Heart Condition is a
mystery-fantasy about Mooney, a hard-living, bigoted,
overly-zealous vice-cop, who has been frustrated in his
efforts to get evidence against Stone, a crooked black
attorney. Mooney also harbors resentment, because Stone is
having an affair with Chris, a prostitute, and Mooney's former
live-in lady friend, for whom Mooney still pines. One night,
while Mooney is sharing some whiskey with his cat, he suffers
a massive heart attack and needs an emergency transplant. As
fate would have it, Stone is fatally injured in a car crash
and Stone's heart is donated to Mooney. While Mooney is
recuperating and finding it hard to accept that he has a black
man's heart, Stone's ghost appears to him. Stone tells Mooney
his car crash was no accident, that he feels a special kinship
with Mooney, and he wants Mooney to solve his murder. Since
Mooney is the only one who can see or hear Stone, there are
some very funny moments as their rocky relationship mellows
and this bizarre duo unravel the mystery.
Comment: There was
no real whiskey in the cat's milk.
