Little Bigfoot is a
film about a mother bigfoot and her cub living in the forest
around a mountain resort area. Largo Construction Company, the
local lumber mill, is cutting down the trees and destroying
the forest that the bigfoot and her cub live in. Largo is also
suspected of illegally cutting down protected trees and
hunting protected animals. When the news of a bear sighting
reaches the owner of Largo Construction, he instructs his men
to kill it at any cost. Bears are a protected species
therefore, it is imperative that the authorities not find out
what they are doing. So when Lanya, the local
veterinarian/conservationist, starts snooping around, things
get a little out of hand.
In the meantime the
Mackenzie family arrive in town to spend the summer. Payton,
one of the children, decides to go exploring in the woods and
he sees what he believes to be a small bigfoot. He is caught
by Mr. Largo and his men and later the sheriff returnes him to
his mother, with a warning not to go back onto Largo property.
The boys' curiosity can not be stopped so he and Maggie, his
younger sister, along with Max, the family dog, decide to go
exploring again. The two children see the small bigfoot and he
tries to communicate with them.
A few days later,
the children are caught again but this time with Peter, their
older brother, and Lanya. Lanya has already been warned that
if she ever went back onto Largo property that Mr. Largo would
prosecute her for trespassing. However, she believes strongly
in stopping Largo's illegal activities so she disregards the
warning and goes anyway. Unfortunately, Lanya and Peter are
caught taking pictures of the loggers cutting down protected
trees. Peter is taken home while Lanya is arrested. Lanya
cannot prove anything is going on because Mr. Largo
confiscated her film from her camera.
It is now up to the
kids to save Lanya and bigfoot. Maggie had also taken pictures
with her camera so Peter takes the camera to the sheriff. In
the meantime, Payton and Maggie sneak back into the woods to
help the little bigfoot and his mom escape from the danger.
The children hear the Largo men in the distance and realize
that they do not have much time to get to safety. It becomes a
race against time to reach safety and avoid the clutches of
the loggers.
Animal Action:
The MacKenzie family
dog is seen throughout the film. He is seen in several scenes,
in the family van as they drive to the resort, or being walked
through town on his leash with Payton or Maggie. He is also
seen several times in the house either lying on the floor, or
on the bed with the children. While Payton and Maggie are in
the woods, Max, always on his leash, is seen with them either
walking or running. Max is also seen sitting on Mr. Largo's
couch when Payton is caught the first time trespassing on
Largo property. There is also a scene where the kids steal one
of the loggers trucks and Max is seen jumping into the cab.
The dog was a personal pet of the producers.
Mr. Largo also has a
dog and he is seen sitting by the fire in the Largo home and
walking out of the cabin behind some Loggers.
In one scene, Mr.
Largo goes to Lanya's office to warn her to stay away from his
property and he has a dead deer in the bed of his truck. A
taxidermic deer was rented for this scene.
There is also a
scene when the kids are out in the woods and little bigfoot
shows them a dead bear cub, with the knife sticking out of his
chest. No live bear was used in this scene. A taxidermic bear
was rented by the props department.
Other animal action
consists of a bear seen walking across an open area in the
woods. In one scene in Lanya's office, a rabbit is seen on her
counter and she hands it to her assistant. There are two
scenes where a deer is seen in the woods. In the first scene,
the deer is merely seen eating grass and in the second scene,
little bigfoot and Payton feed him out of their hands.
