Major League is the story of the Cleveland Indians baseball team who have not won a pennant in more than 30 years. Rachel Phelps, their owner and former showgirl, wants to move the team from Cleveland to Miami, so she puts together a band of misfits that she feels will be guaranteed losers. When the team hears of her scheme, they start winning.

In the movie, Mrs. Phelps has a pet Pekinese that she takes with her wherever she goes. Other animals in the film are a lizard, chickens seen as atmosphere and a snake.
